GMAI welcomed over twenty Salons and Spas from locations around the state to participate in the Fall Career Fair. Salon and Spa owners were indulged with an eclectic music selection and organic inspired lunch faire. The main event boasted a fashion show reflecting the diverse beauty of our world’s continents, an intrinsic part of the human being that crosses all boundaries. Future Professionals showcased their personality and skills, styling the hair, makeup, and clothing for models as they took to the catwalk. Thank you, to all who contributed to making this event a success!

On Saturday October 4, 2008 GMAI participated in the 22nd Annual AIDS Walk. Future Professionals and Team Members partnered to raise in excess of $7,000.00 for the Lifelong AIDS Alliance, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to preventing the spread of HIV. The outcome of this years walk was remarkable as 2,500 individuals united to help those suffering in our own community, marching through the streets of Capitol Hill to raise an astounding $650,000.    

This October Future Professionals and Team Members acted as ambassadors on behalf of GMAI, traveling to London to participate in the 25th Alternative Hair Show and pay homage to Vidal Sassoon as he celebrated his 80th birthday. Founded in 1983 and the only annual global hair event of its kind, the Alternative Hair Show is devoted to raising money for Leukemia research. The main event was held at the Royal Albert Hall with an audience of five thousand. In addition GMAI attendees toured the city, dinning at trendy restaurants and refining their skills through advanced training hosted by AVEDA.

GMAI was delighted to host Seattle’s own Washington Middle School for a day of pampering and self-esteem building. Twenty students were invited to receive complimentary hair cuts, skin care, and style tips from Future Professionals and Learning Leaders during this event. GMAI considers their position as positive role models imperative as research reflects that students with an actively involved community show improved behavior, attend school more regularly, have better social skills and earn higher grades and test scores.
