It was all good news to report for the girls at Trinity Lutheran
Church Friday, July 13, 2007 as GMAI Future Professionals came to the rescue
and spent the morning assisting girls ages 11 to 14 with their self image.
Cutting, styling, braiding, mini-facials and light make-up applications made
bright smiles appear on the faces of all the young ladies!
This fabulous day camp creates an atmosphere in which young women can become
strong and empowered. Activities the campers participated in included self defense
and kickboxing classes. They were also taught how to create a positive self image
and avoid unwanted attention.
That’s were the GMAI Future Professionals came in! Loaded up with all of
our AVEDA products and knowledge and positive attitudes we went on this fun field
trip. We went across the water to Whidbey Island and had a great time. The smart,
beautiful girls and their councilors were very appreciative and made us feel
incredibly welcome.
We had so much fun and were so well received that we were asked back next year
for more festivities. We can’t wait!
We can be very proud of how our Future Professionals interacted with each one
of the campers and staff at the Trinity Lutheran Church camp. Each and every
one of our gifted students was fully engaged in the process and did beautiful
work.
Once again GMAI future
professionals and staff are teaming up to raise funds
and fight AIDS in the twenty first annual AIDS walk.
This year Career Services is organizing raffle drawings
to win fun prizes, donations at stations and much more.
Everyone is getting pumped about the upcoming event.

In a joint
effort to learn and create magic and beauty, photography
students at Seattle Art Institute spent a day with
GMAI FPs (future professionals) and models taking pictures
for their class project. In turn it was also a part
of a “How to Have a Successful Photo Shoot” workshop
for GMAI FPs. Take a look:
In an
effort to add more structured wellness breaks throughout
the year, Institute Leaders at GMAI agreed on a new
all-school schedule that allows Future Professionals
to plan set holiday time after Christmas, a week during
spring and one in fall.
Altogether four weeks of time
off are now scheduled per year; big breaks compared
to the previous policy and great news for families
seeking to plan time with their beloved future professionals.
In lieu of each class having their own week-long wellness
break, GMAI will close all classes during these times
so that everyone takes their breaks at once and everyone
can be certain to have holiday time.
The response was phenomenal as Guests
of Gary Manuel Aveda Institute and Gary Manuel Salon
took part in Citysearch.com’s annual Best of
Citysearch poll.
Remarkably, GMAI ranked in the top three for Best
Facial. Gary Manuel Salon was voted the editorial
winner for Best Salon and, no surprise, Gary Manuel
Salon was voted the editorial
and audience winner for Color and Highlights.
Voters responded with kind words and wonderful feedback
as well. The whole Gary Manuel Team sends out a heartfelt
Thanks to everyone who voted. We promise to meet your
expectations.
